Forge wastegate actuator or Buschur's high boost wastegate actuator
hey guys i need some help in deciding which wastegate actuator to go with.. i have a Evo 8 with 20g evo 9 turbo, alky kit and all supporting mods (tbe, intake, buschur tb,fmic, ams intake mani.,etc.. the list goes on).. what do you guys think.. i havent really seen or heard a lot about both of them.. can anyone help me out???.. im leaning more towards buschur... but wanna know more about forge so i can compare.. anyone have either of the wastegate actuator that can help me out??? Thanks
i am in the exact same situation as you and i have been doing my research. the forge wg looks a little bit better but then you have to tell yourself its also buschur and they have awesome parts... i am actully leaning towards the forge one too becuase the buschur wg holds 22 to 23 all day and will not go lower. im not sure i would like to be right around 20 sometimes becuase i drive my car to work every day and 23 kills my gas mileage. im not sure what the forfe wg holds but i figure its more than stock.ne one know what it holds consistenttly?
a friend of mine has the forge and his holds 18 psi all day long. with the wastegate holding thou. it only holds boost when you hammer the car it wont let you sit at 22/23 psi with no load on the engine.

- Preload on the turnbuckle at the end of the actuator arm
- Spring used in the unit
- Boost controller settings
- Supporting modifications
- etc......
...... will all affect the boost output of the turbo.
With all of the proper supporting modifications, most owners of our actuator using the Red (19-24PSI) spring are seeing a base actuator output (without a boost controller) of around 20-21 PSI. Adding a boost controller, depending upon the settings used, are resulting in much more sustainable boost levels.
Slightly quicker spool may also result, and while some tapering will always exist, since you must operate within the efficiency range of the turbo, tapering is greatly decreased.
Example:
If you were previously seeing spikes to 25 PSI and tapering to 20, our actuator, once installed and the boost controller settings modified, would probably result in a 25 PSI spike and a taper to only 23 PSI.
I control my boost levels with a Hallman manual boost controller (bov connection method). Pump gas i have 23psi, which immediately after the spike drops to ~21psi and tapers all the way down to ~17.5psi towards the redline... Hope to cure this "problem"... If i manage to keep 21-23psi on the high revs i will be very happy... and the car will be even stronger...
