I have a WORKS short shift and its feels very smooth. Possibly even smoother than stock despite a claimed 30% throw reduction. Although I would guess a lot of this is due to the fact that I greased the crap out of everything when I did the install. My stock shifted assembly was almost bone dry. All in all, I would say it was worth it.

I had the B&M short shifter (adjustable) on my 03 8 with the metal bushings. Also the underhood bushings. I had it on the highest reduction,i think it was 38% red. or something like that. The difference was like day and night. Rifle bolt accuracy and nice short throws. I also had the Razo 340 gram shift knob which made it even better because of the weighted pendulum effect. You had to give it a little more of a tug then stock, but it was well worth the difference in shifting ability and accuracy. I put the shifter in the same time i put in the exedy twin so it really shifted lightening quick.
