Question Turbo Timers - Needed ?

I need to know if turbo timers are needed on our WaterCooled turbocharger Evos. I always thought that the purpose of the T-timer was to allow the oil in the turbo to run and cool down after hard driving. But since these cars do not use oil-cooled Turbos, are they still needed?

It is not needed, but it is recommended that you allow the car to run for several minutes before shutting down after hard driving. This is the recommendation straight from Mitsubishi that came with my IX. A water cooled center section will help to remove heat from the cartridge, but if the temps within the cartridge are sufficiently hot the oil can cook onto the bearings and eventually cause failure. Think in terms of potentially extending the life of your turbo.
