I'd say.. different ratios, shorter i think, and the 5-speed has been proven to be good over the years on the Evos.

Some have lost 4th gear in the 6 speed. They switch it out for a 5 speed which some say is more reliable and better suited for drag racing. 1 less gear to shift.

Dont tell Warr that though. That cat can drive the hell out of that six speed and hasnt broke it yet I dont think

Keep it up bud

Nah, 4th broke in mine while road racing (not drag racing), then I switched to an VIII 5spd just recently with 5th gear from a IX for optimum gearing on the road course - built by Shep. I needed something that would stand the test of time while road racing, but the gearing will also be much better for drag racing. The drag racing just wasn't as important, although it's a bonus side effect.

i along with ultimate cc have both broke the 5 speed tranny well 1st gear for me he took out 1st and 2nd,

the 5 speed tranny has been shown to be more reliable then the 6 speed and the gear ratios are alot better suited for the quarter mile

Gears 1-3 are beefier on the 6spd, but gears 4-6 are tiny and weak. The 5spd's weakest gear is 1st...

exactly damn warr your too fast with the posts i was just about to say the same

also in the quarter mile many with the 6 speed need to shift into 5th while most stay in 4th with the 5 speed
