I have an evo 9 with an intake and downpipe, some guy at a shop told me he will tune the car like it is and get some power. im just wondering if i should get an exhaust before because i can not get an exhaust that is noticable to anyone. My parents or my brother can not notice so i was wondering if i get an exhaust is it worth all the trouble. I have the HKS intake, the green one, and the perring 3 inch downpipe. I just need to know if a catback with the downpipe would make a big difference or would tunning with just a downpipe be ok.

add the catback if possible. i tuned an evo 9 the other day with nothing but a downpipe and catback. made 30hp more and 46 ftlb of torque. the torque was an increase of 46 across the board from 3000-5000 rpm. i used the JDM mivec map, increased boost, and added timing. fuel i haven't looked at yet because hes adding a test pipe shortly and i'll be finishing it then.

That apexi muffler has a nice stealthy look to it. If you can get away with some added sound get a test pipe too.
