If you have an upper pipe with a 1G flange, the only easy options are the DSM 1G valve, the Forge 1G valve and the Greddy Type S valve. I just ordered the Dejon kit last night.

You would be downgrading if you went with the 1G.
It would be a downgrade with the 1g unless you were utilizing the dejon leak stop kit....

Are any of you guys having noise issues with this BOV? Mine came as part of the Buschur upic kit. At low-mid speeds, every time I lift the gas pedal it whistles/squeaks quite a bit. It sounds like worn out brake pads...it's driving me crazy! Is there any fix to this problem?
The whistle under vacuum is the bov sucking air in. If you're uncrushed it probably happens around 12-15 inches of vacuum. There isn't really a way to stop it, crushing it will move it up to 18-20 but it will still happen then. Just a "feature" of the bov.

Rich, you dont need to crush the BOV with the kit, it will still work fine. Let me know how you like it after the install

MY pleasure brother. Glad it worked out for you.

Thanks for the info. Non-fixable then, that really sucks.

I am confused...was the writeup meant to do it 1G BOV or the EVO9 BOV? Looks good and that is the only good way to make a 1G BOV work as it should.

Must be nice to have an EMS! You are silly to run the tial/atmospheric BOV without the proper engine mgmt.

there's pics for both... the directions are generic but are the original gus mod how to. nowadays you can buy the bov premade from dejontools or drill and tap and use a nipple instead of a rod or whatever he used.

Awesome, nice to see Gus getting the credit for the original Gus-mod. DT copied it, and has gone through a few evolutions on the control system.

I feel like I've posted about this extensively somewhere on this site, but I enjoy this topic for some reason. I run a Gus-modded 1g valve. Holds tight to as high as I can test it. I don't normally run any type of control system on it, but the best system almost invariably works out to be a simple WOT switch based system. Wether you use something DSMlink or AEM to do it, or an actual switch on the TB. For the last couple years with the EVO I've just been pulling the Gus line so it holds at the track, since I NLTS anyway, then put it back on when I leave.

I did the latest version for the EVO with all 1/16th NPT fittings. It's a bit tricky, but the end result is excellent. Nice and clean, strong, and no leaks.

I'm tempted to go back to a Tial now that I'm running the AEM, but I love these backyard engineered parts...

I just received my leak stop kit from DT. Do I need to disassemble it and put thread sealant on those fittings, or does DT take care of that for you?

which fittings? Did you buy the 1g valve from them too with it already modded, or did you just buy the leak stop kit?

If they modded the 1g valve for you then all you have to drill and tap the uicp for the boost source and then tap into your bov line per the instructions and your set...

Congrats on the purchase...you wont be dissapointed with the best bov for stock ecu

I decided not to tackle the leak stop install myself, and just sent the kit and my valve to Dejon to do it for me (only $10). They turned it around pretty fast and I installed it today. Haven't done any logs or serious testing, but in the initial drive it seems to maintain all of it's drivability. The only thing I notice different is that when you let off after boost, the release is much more punctuated and rapid. The venting seems to happen faster. I haven't logged boost or anything yet, but so far so good. It certainly looks interesting with all of the hoses.

I didn't tap the UICP. Instead, I tee'd off vacuum line from the compressor outlet pipe.
