Boost problem

well i finally recieved my stewart warner boost guage and i come to find out im only spiking to 17psi then tapering off to 15 then 13 by redline.ive searched around and came to the conclusion that stock boost is supposed to be 20.8psi correct me if im wrong.
What bothers me is the car is stock i had an aftermarket intake on the car and figured that was the problem so i removed it put the stocker back in this morning and the same thing is still happening after i took it for a drive.so i know its not the intake.the next thing i could think about is testing for boost leaks.i gonna be doing this within the next hour or so.please chime in as im running out of possibilities.what else can cause this type of problem.

the car is new why would it have a boost leak the only thing i messed with is the vaccum line from the Diverter valve for the guage and i have that thing all ziptied up.

also if the car had a boost leak wouldnt my idle be all screwed up?my car idles perfect bythe way.

Make sure you run a datalog after you start cranking up the boost.

Who knows, maybe your "17psi" was actually 20psi and the gauge is off. Now you'll be at 23 :O.

Datalog the ***** to be sure .

I had a similar problem with my auto meter gauge....i purchased the innovate motorsports LMA-3 MAP sensor here recently and my "21lbs" on the boost gauge was really "18lbs" according to the MAP sensor....might want to invest in one...

Alot of analog gauges are off, just like yours.

Lesson - Always use a MAP sensor for boost claims

I have the same issue, bro it's normal.
My peak boost is 18 psi tappering down to 14-15 psi. My friend did a boost leak test last week and found nothing wrong. My car still makes power so I just assume it's normal.

Shoot... I have an MBC and my car spikes at 25 and is down to 18-17 at redline (7800).

No knocks and 11.5 AFRs @ 3rd gear. I used a med grade map sensor inside the car to log the boost.
