05 LSD in a 03 t-case?

I'm getting ready to install a clutch on my car and got a 05 TC with diff in it for nothing, so I got a nice piece of equipment for free. I know the 05's have LSD in the front instead of a open diff. My question is will the 05 lsd bolt right in and work or do I need the whole 05 tc on my 03? I have been told it works and I have been told it doesn't. I am looking for people who have done this or have attempted it. Thank you for the info in advance.

It should work, why not just use the 05 t case though, its newer and possibly has less miles on it.

If it will work then i will use that. I already have the diff out of it. I am just trying to figure it all out right now before I start taking everything apart. If anyone has swapped the whole 05 tc into a 03 please give me some insight!!!!

You can't use the 05 TC in your 03. Part of the center diff (coupling) is in the TC. If you don't have ACD in the vehicle there will be no control or fluid going to the coupling and it simply will not work. The 03 has a viscous coupling which is a mechanical device with no outside controls needed.

Installing the 05 diff into the 03 TC should work fine. I would check with one of the major shops TRE or Shepherd to make sure. Someone has also done a writeup on how to install the Quaife (same process), so that should help. I know that you don't have to set bearing preload when changing the diff so its mostly plug and play.
