ever have this happen?

this used to rarely happen but now it happen twice today, and it happend in my friends evo too, only at high rpms. i was driving at full throttle and shifted into 2nd, and had to slow down so i took it out of gear but the rpms drop slowww, im pretty sure its still engaged in gear somehow because the rpms drop with the wheels. when it used to happen i would push in the clutch and the rpms would drop to idle, but this time they didnt drop until i put it into another gear and pulled out the clutch. im pretty stumped as to why this would happen. any ideas?

There are a couple of threads about this. Not sure what causes it. Sounds like a stuck throttle plate or bad idle air controller.

but it slows down with the wheel speed. it happend a couple times in a row to me a while back, and i hit the brakes hard to slow down faster and the rpms went down faster

We've discussed this more than a few times. It's a built-in feature.

Possibly a bad TPS sensor maybe? Maybe your clutch isn't fully disengaging the flywheel (throw out bearing failure)?

What about if you go WOT and then put it into neutral and the rpms will still hang?
