Better for what, Exedy is one of the best clutches out there. I would spend a little more money and get the HD.

Whats your current power output and what type of power do you think you might see in the future. What type of driving do you do (track days only, dd, every now and then, traffic king). I decided that when I get a clutch it will be a hd twin disk design to allow some breathing room for 400whp+. Let us know your goals for the car then you can start picking a clutch out.

he said the Exedy stage 1 which is an organic pos. it has like 2300lb clamp load which is 100 more than stock. the ACT HDSS has 2900 and will hold 500ft/tq. sooo thats y its better. now the twin Exedy will hold like 2930lb clamp load and cost 1300 or more. the HDSS is 550.

For a little over $300 the Exedy Stage 1 cannot be beat - even at 360wtq. Haven't been to the track yet though, maybe in one hour

According to Exedy's website the Stage 1 organic clutch kit (05803) for the Evo has a clamp load of 3010lbs and that's 44% over the stock pressure plate. ACT claims that they're pressure plate is 38% more. if you actually do the math, then that means the stock pressure plate is actually 2100lbs more or less.

I would try the Exedy single, I had one on my civic no problems, plenty of 1/4 runs and not one slip. I was only making about 300hp, but it was fun it engaged just like a stock Evo clutch maybe a little quicker. I will be getting one for my Evo eventually, and I am sure it will work just as flawlessly.

Stock clamp load is 2200 lbs. We list our increase in clamp load over stock at 41% on our HD pressure plate and 57% on or XT pressure plate. I'm not sure where you're getting 38%.

The ACT will hold more power then the exedy organic single disc clutch. We have seen it a million times.
