This topic has been covered a million times and you are going to hear everyone on the forum go back a forth about which is better. Alot of the "problems" tend to be from poor and inexperienced installations. IMO you should do a search about BOTH Exedy and ACT. Again IMO I have read NUMEROUS posts about the ACT's having many more problems than the Exedy when installed properly by repputable shops. Do the research and decide for yourself.

I have the Exedy Twin HD and bought it because Exedy makes the factory clutch for the Evo. I am also putting down a little more power than you (I think you said you were at 300 or so) and it works perfectly. The pedal has a stock feel to it as well. If you plan to do more mods for more power then save you $ and get the Twin HD so that you arent replacing your clutch shortly down the road again.

Remember the sayings, "you get what you pay for" and "cheaper is not always better" I wouldnt mess with a cheap clutch especially with the Evo since it could destory many parts of your drive train if you make the wrong decision.

Just my .02

Stage 1 single disc organic(clamp load 3010)

max torque @ flywheel: circuit track-415

I didn't even get into the specs of the hyper single, twin disk or triple disk since you were asking about the exedy stage1.

check this post out of this guy using ACT,,,, i am not trying to bash ACT,,,,,,, i am in the same boat of researching wich clutch do i get. thats all
I'm in the same boat as you buddy. Personally I'm between the Fidanza 3.2 and the ACT HDSS. I know two guys that have ACT's and both of them don't have any problems. I posted a thread regarding the reviews of Fidanza. If I could afford it, I would go with the Exedy twin, but unfortunately I cannot.

Totally off topic, I'm sorry, but I did contribute to the thread...

I don't know why people say "Get the Exedy Twin because Exedy made the stock clutch!" For one, the stock clutch sucks. For two, the Exedy Twin disk was not designed for the Evo specifically. So that really isn't a good reason to buy a clutch. The Exedy Twin has a lot of better reasons to purchase.
