my car was tuned to spike at 24 and hold 22.5 and runs very well

23 is about as high as you want to go on pump gas and it definitely would be recommended to be tuned to make sure your afr's are okay and you aren't knocking

Well I have no mods but AL did tune my stock EVo for a little over 21psi..I was thinking of maybe just uping the boost to 23psi for the track and run race gas/pump gas mix.

Your fuel is what determines how much boost you can run. I learned this beasue I asked David B. when he and AL flashed my ecu, "what psi am I tuned for?". He said you don't tune for a specific psi, if I remember right. with 93-94, he told me to run 21-22psi. with C16, 25-26psi. I am stage 4+, running FP's "White Rabbit".

So, if you are running some sort of race gas, I don't see why you couldn't up the boost. If I am wrong, please someone correct me. Hope this helps.

Are you sure that's accurate? Everything I've read indicates that the Walbro is superior even on an IX.

I wouldn't raise the boost if I still had the stock exhaust.

I'd love to see where you read that one. THe IX does have a better fuel pump than the VIII stock, but it is NOT a 255 lph.
