Crank sprocket bolt won't come loose
Crank sprocket bolt won't come loose
I am doing an engine swap and am getting everything swapped from my old engine to my new engine and have run into a problem. My impact wrench will not break the bolt on the crank timing sprocket loose. Any suggestions from anyone who has done this before?
Thanks,
Paul

If you have the engine out of the car or have enough room to use one, a 3-4 foot pipe on the end of a normal socket bar will provide enough leverage to twist that off right now...

2 conclusions to come to here...either your impact wrench blows, or superman torqued down the bolt when it was last assembled. Did you have the motor rebuilt at all? If its not working you can try putting the flywheel on and cutting a little strip of metal to bolt to the flwheel and block like they show you to do on evomoto's clutch install guide. Once you've done that, try using a really big ratchet(breaker bar). Typically a some PB nutblaster and a ball peen hammer would help too. I like to squirt some pb on stuck bolts and give em a whack with the hammer to shock the threads and hopefully loosen em up. Really weird your impact wrench wouldn't get it off. It shold make short work of it. Make sure too that the air pressure wasn't turned down on your compressor.
