Precision 6152E (630hp rated) ????

What are your views or experience with Precision turbos? Are these junk? Have the chance to score this turbo for less than half of its retail price. Or should I just have my 50 trim rebuilt? Got the 50 trim blown with plans on rebuilding but I already want to go bigger.

I have a buddy here running that turbo, the SC61. Tuning with AEM on pump gas he pulled 400whp on a dyno dynamics dyno...that's like 480whp or so on a dynojet! It is a decent turbo!

SC61 seems like a great turbo, From hear say it spools just a tad slower then a 50 trim, but makes more top end .. pretty close top end to a GT35. For a lot less money. Not sure Why there aren't more EVO with this turbo. Can anyone through some input or a dyno sheets from a SC61?

SC61 is junk.

My buddy drew had one on his evo back in 03. It was JUNK car was hell didn't make boost at all in 1st gear.... 2nd gear like 6k... so pretty much car was useless in 1st and 2nd..

35r is very much a superior turbo

the SC61 is one of my favorite turbos. We have been using it for years on all kinds of builds and it has never let us down. Hell my buddy was making 421whp at like 22 or 23psi 3 years ago on his 03 GSR before lots of other work was done or any professional tuning.

I have several DSM customers in the 10's and 500whp club with it too.

It does obviously take longer to spool than the conventional 50trim.

I really recommend you pick up the S cover though.

Don't the big-power Supra's use Precision turbo's with success?

+1. I'm also very interested in how the SC61 reacts on the 4G63. I know compared to the GT35R it would spool considerably slower, but say with all supporting mods & some good ole' 272's what would spool & powerband be like?

to4s cover, 4" inlet, 2.5" outlet.

The 6152e is a good turbo but uses the older style exhaust wheel, the PTE GT3561 uses the same Compressor wheel but the new style GT exhaust wheel(making it a non ball bearing GT35r). I would suggest that over the 6152.

How fast would it spool on a 8 with supporting mods & 272's?

My 2.0 6 bolt in a 2g made 430 whp at 26 psi on pump gas. 513 whp and 475 ft lbs at 31 psi on pump gas and meth. This is also in a dsm flange making it an SCM 6152R (ball bearing tubro w/ the 4" S cover- 1st gen rod pistons FP3x cams) Its a good turbo.
