New Fuel Injectors and sparkplugs?

Hey guys,

I'm adding a couple of more mods to my MR and then getting tuned, looking to make around 350-370 awhp. Do I need to consider getting new sparkplugs and injectors? Right now I still have the stock ones.

Thanks for the help!

What is the rest of your setup?

You will also need a larger fuel pump.

This is my current list of mods. I got Turbortrix tuned to 308awhp:

Turboback exhaust
O2 housing
Exhaust Manifold
MBC @ 22psi
Walbro 255 fuel pump

For my next tune, I'm going to add:

Injen upper and lower intercooler piping
Injen MAF Intake kit
Helix V2 cams
Helix adjustable cam gears

What do you think?

well if you do bigger injectors you could turn the boost up and maybe see your #. What about alky/meth? and I would skip the cam gears also, I think you'll be fine on stock plugs.

If youre stick with stock turbo or even going with meth on it, stock injectors are still ok. You only need them for upgraded turbos. Also, if it were me, Id ditch the cam gears, everything else looks OK. I dont trust Helix cams either but hey, whatever.

What's your aversion to Helix cams? Can you explain?

Thanks for the answers!

I dont believe in cam gears mostly in part because the first thing they do is make a liability present. If one of the nuts comes lose on them (and its happened to MANY members on here, some just randomly I talked to as well), your entire cylinder head is shot.

Secondly, the only thing cams gears are really doing is shifting the power somewhere else. When you gain some, ya lose some. For instance, if you set them to a setting to gain 10hp top end, you will in turn lose midrange/low end. Now thats OK for some people but I dont see that its really worth it at all, especially when you add in the cost and liability of having them.

Lastly, you dont need them to go fast. Look at my sig.

He asked you what you have against the cams, not the cam gears.

I can vouch for the Helix cams. No problems whatsoever. They're copies of the HKS 272s and are hollow, just like Mitsu intended.

Cam gears can help you fine tune your setup to maximize power (and minimize knock) where you want it most.

Oops, didnt see that. I just stated my opinion about cam gears in general, not Helix ones. Also, I dont have anything against Helix cams, I just wouldnt trust a company like Helix with cams being that a lot of their products have been known to be sub-par in terms of quality. I trust companies like HKS and JUN. Again thats just a personal preference of mine. Same with the cam gears.

Helix is basically HKS but made in China, for a better price. I have many helix pieces and they have all held up very well. They use the same machines and blueprints to make there parts as HKS, They are a good (for lack of a better term) "Replica"

In general, I agree. I'll buy the best that's made regardless of price. Helix happens to be the only company that makes hollow 272s. If Jun or HKS made them, I'd already have them in my car by now. That said, the Helix cams have given me no trouble at all.
