Yea it SUCKS big time. Once I get the car back, it will not go back to that dealer.
I sent a letter to the owner of the dealership last week and got no less than 5 phone calls yesterday. Including one by the owner himself.
These guy's can all BLOW ME! I'm going to try and milk them for whatever I can get.
I should have the car tonight or Friday at the latest.

 

Some seem to be in denial. Mine started making the rattling noise at about 400 miles and just seemed to get worse. A friend with a WRX sent me this site...very informative. After reading the "tranny" threads, I thought it may be only first batch cars and as some pointed out a "normal noise" due to the cars specific engineering. Mine turned out to be close to the end of the 2003 batch. After the noise worsened, reality set in. At 550 I took it straight to the dealership...they are in the process of replacing my transmission after me having it seven whole days...To get the most obvious out of the way, no I haven't gotten to even enjoy it, no it never got over 5 grand, and no I haven't even gotten it totally broken in. It was almost misdiagnost as a throwout bearing. After putting it on a lift it was determined to be coming from further inside the tranny itself. I have read all of the threads, and my advice is not to take any chances, take it to the dealer and call mitsubishi direct. Some lady tried to tell me on the phone that the noise was "normal"...imagine that a 550 mile, 30k top of the line import rally car sounding like it had a jar full of BB's rattling around under the hood on every decel after 3rd...it took the dealership twenty minutes to drive it and lift it and tell me the tranny was going to have to be replaced...and more importantly to admit it was the third they have seen. The second from this dealership to have the tranny replaced...the other made the noise and had problems with fifth gear going out. From what all of you have said it seems to be a widespread factory problem. I am trying to see the district rep. tomorrow. I am not trying to rain on anyone parade...don't get me wrong I love the car....but like most of you I had visions of at least 350 HP. But I am scared to do anything aftermarket now...I know the next tranny will probably be like the first, great for the first 500 miles then possibly suffer from the same problems.

 

ok as of now i have some slight mods installed... i have a lot of parts sitting here next to me in my room .... and im supposed to get it installed real soon... since i got my bo vta.... ive since then been having some problems of course with my driveablity.... so its kinda hard to determine certain noises... but ne wayz... even before i was having a few slight " tranny " noises if it is the tranny... i dont kno wtf it really is... its something ... that is related to something between the process of me hittin the clutch switchin gears and disengagin... sometimes i just get noises...... dont kno if its me driving or wat cuz sometimes i dont get noises... so its just weird.. and ir eally need to kno real soon bcuz i have an appointment soon to put on a descent amount of stuff and i need to kno before i do that.... i wonder.... maybe va/md we can have a meet soon.... and maybe drive each other cars that seem to be making these noises??? i dont mean like dog each others cars out.. i mean drive them like a normal person so we can figure out wtf is really goin on... i would b up to it... cuz i really need to kno wsup.. funny thing is tranny noises or gear noises or clutch noises or watever the **** the ugly noises are i hear sometimes are never there when goin wot and switchin gearz... maybe its bcuz some of all the other loud **** but even w/out the sound its smoother... speakin of weird tranny or watever... anyone else have this problem... driving in 1st like creeping........ your already engaged in gear.... clutch is let off.... and just hittin accelerater slightly to move.... even though clutch is already been let off and gear is def already in.... if u keep crawlin on accelerater i get like BABY rocking.... best way i could describe it.. its not like rocking rocking... but u can hear it too....
