EVO Motor Mounts

I have horrible shifting issues where I hear a Loud Thump in the engine bay area and I think that i need a new motor mount but I'm not sure which one went bad. Does anyone have a diagram of where they are located and which motor mount brand I should get that isnt too expensive? And how hard is it to install each motor mounts? Thanks.

There is one on the lower cross member that I believe you have to take the undercover off to get to. The two on the sides of the motor are simple to get to and can be seen easily with the hood up. The one on the back of the motor is the difficult one to reach.

the one under the engine, right above the belly pan is the motor mount that takes most of the abuse, the other two basically hold the motor in place but not from twisting during power.

Once the belly cover is off its easy to get to.

i've been meaning to get some solid motor mounts as well. damn larry. we are on the same page. i'm also wanting to get a torque dampner and shifter bushings and these motor mounts so that shifting will be easier and it will launch more solid.

AMS sells... powerflex motor mounts i believe. i'll probably be going with those. someone correct me if im wrong. im too lazy to go to AMS's site

I have the AP lower motor mount and I noticed a big improvement with high RPM shifts. Definitely worth $100

I didnt notice any difference from changing my front motor mount. I use the Agency Power one, feel a little vibration in the steering wheel but everything still feels the same. But then again, I changed it out at like 10k miles.

If you are planning on getting motor mounts I would suggest the Avid Racing mounts. You should replace all of the mounts in the same time, or you will have uneven vibration issues.

Avid Racing full replacement engine mounts. $350
-CNC machined billet aluminum mounts made from Alcoa 6061 T-6 extrusions.
-Choice of 62A (Street), 75A (Street & Strip) and 90A (Extreme Race) polyurethane inserts .
-All necessary hardware included.
-Replaces all four mounts.
-This will improve shift response for faster shifting.

I'm pretty happy with the Ralliart motor mount kit for $189. I didn't even install the rear one. Most of the other kits on the market in the EVOs I have driven feel a bit too stiff IMO. Also you should considered our Gruppe-S Engine torque damper - it does wonders for engine movement and shift feel.

Cheers,

Gary

Personally, I think the engine damper is a band aid. Try the mounts first before you spend money on that.

Also the Avid mounts are full replacements, remove the OEm mount w/bushing and bolt the new one in. The Ralliart mounts require removing the old mount and bushing then pressing in the new one, FYI.

I have the Ralliart set and they kick ***. There is lots of in cabin vibration though esp at the steering wheel and dash.
