HKS Cam Tests
I just got a shipment of HKS cams for the EVO8. We will be testing the cams on the dyno in the next few days. I have both 264 and 272 cams (intake and exhaust) and also a set of Demon cams to test. Stay tuned for cam results from AMS!

Great news, I posted a few days ago about this exact same thing. I am assuiming that you will use adjustable cam gears to get the most out of the cams. Please post the dyno results. thanks for the little experiment!

Just got off the dyno with the car. HKS 272in 272 ex results: 353whp! and 330ft-lbs of torque. This was with boost hitting 25psi dropping to 23-24 quickly and then tapering to 20psi at high RPM's. I ran it also at 21psi peak and then dropping to 20psi at top end. The peak HP was about the same but torque was about 300ft-lbs. We've noticed that it will push about another 1psi of boost compared to stock cams so now we can hold a solid 20psi up top compared to 19psi before. For what it's worth I can safely say that the cams are good for a solid 25hp more at the wheels and about 20ft-lbs of torque, this would equate to about 30hp at the crank and 25ft-lbs of torque.
When putting HKS 272/272 cams on a DSM you will notice a huge difference in idle quality compared to stock cams. Here I was very suprised that idle quality was only slightly worse and there was not even a hint of stumble or off-throttle coast down dying (you DSM'ers probably know that well
) I'm very impressed with them and we're going to the track here shortly to see the results. Dyno graphs will be up tomorrow.
Thanks,
Martin Musial

Correct me if im wrong . . . these tests were conducted on a 1994 eagle talon ? with a 91' motor ? how can these results be accurately applied to the 46g in the evo 8 ? I know they use similar architecture, but do you think the gains will be the same ? idle quality ? are the static compresion ratios the same ? not trying to cause a controversy but would love to know the effects on a stock / or mildly modified evo ! ! !

The test was done on our EVO 8, you must have looked at our site and seen the cam test we did on a 1G DSM. We took it to the track last night and pulled a 12.00 at 113.8 mph with a boost leak (one of the fittings I used to measure IC pressure drop lost a vacuum cap) and a slipping clutch. Also we did not spray the intercooler which gave me almost 1mph the last time I took it to the track. If everything was working correctly I'm confident high 11's and 115mph where attainable. We ran at Great Lakes Dragway and I'll post the video into a new thread.

had mixed up the cams for some USDM evos
I means we are seeing huge hp differences and perhaps some lucky people have jdm power. Anyways i'm interested to see the results.
