HKS Cam Tests
Thanks for the info, nice post.
I have to ask, what kind of pressure drop are you seeing accross the intercooler? The stock unit?
I was also wondering how much vacum you see at idle with these cams?
Thanks again,
Eric
We took it to the track last night and pulled a 12.00 at 113.8 mph with a boost leak (one of the fittings I used to measure IC pressure drop lost a vacuum cap)
I was also wondering how much vacum you see at idle with these cams?
Thanks again,
Eric

does anyone know how the 264 and 272 cams effect emmisisons. I don't even have an EVO yet, but I want mine to stay street legal. I would keep a CAT in the exhaust, but I am sure that there are mroe hydrocarbons with this set up. Just wondering if anyone knows anything about it.
That's a pretty godd 1/4 mile time and good dyno numbers. I saw the video of this car, or another silver evo running a 12.0, in this thread on supraforums:

Is the $1700 number accurate?

Yeah Really, comon now guys.
Like did you guys do Springs and retainers? DO we need them? Will a FMIC aid with a stock turbo? Ic piping?
Comon now, do not be stingy..
BTW I think the 264-272 combo is a waste, you get less WHP then the strait 272 dealy and less torque then teh 264 dealy.
just go 272's ,and get your car tuned properly (IE advance timing at idle) WALA great (BUT NOT PERFECT) idle.
P.S. the stock Idle isnot perfect idle.

we made the same HP on the stock turbo with 264's and 272's. you probably won't really see a significant difference till you step up in turbo size. I had very similiar results on the 16G testing on a 1G DSM. To do all the testing you are talking about would cost me thousands of dollars in cams and about 40 hours of work swapping cams, and dyno testing... not cost effective especially when you're doing it for free

I ran it also at 21psi peak and then dropping to 20psi at top end. The peak HP was about the same but torque was about 300ft-lbs. We've noticed that it will push about another 1psi of boost compared to stock cams so now we can hold a solid 20psi up top compared to 19psi before. For what it's worth I can safely say that the cams are good for a solid 25hp more at the wheels and about 20ft-lbs of torque, this would equate to about 30hp at the crank and 25ft-lbs of torque.
When putting HKS 272/272 cams on a DSM you will notice a huge difference in idle quality compared to stock cams. Here I was very suprised that idle quality was only slightly worse and there was not even a hint of stumble or off-throttle coast down dying (you DSM'ers probably know that well
) I'm very impressed with them and we're going to the track here shortly to see the results. Dyno graphs will be up tomorrow.
Thanks,
Martin Musial

was this with just cams and no other mods?? such as cam gears, or engine managment??
