e10 (aka "gasohol") v/s Super Unleaded

e10 (gasohol) - RON 93/94

Super Unleaded - RON 95

The Evo requires at least 91 octane or - RON 94

Sounds like running E10 on a stock Evo would be fine. Altough I've seen e10(89). Is that e10 blended up to make 89 octane?

What does e10 cost v/s Super? I imagine that one would also need to find e10(91) in any case...

Well, it is all about money. Ethanol contains 2/3 the energy of gasoline. In other words, if you drove a flex fuel car pure ethanol would provide 2/3 the range. On a 10% blend you need to calculate the (hopefully) lower price of E10 versus the reduction in range of the blend to know which is better.

In this example the E10 would produce 0.966 the mileage of gasoline. So for E10 to be a good deal it would have to sell for less than $3.05 (0.966 x $3.27).

Hess in Orlando uses 10% mixture of Ethanol in their fuels. I've seen richer mixture as a result of use and also being able to push a few degrees more timing.
