Do I need a Walbro pump with just a TBE?

Getting a TBE and a mail in flash, would I need to upgrade the fuel pump? I'm not trying to build a supercar, just trying to free up a little extra power. Just shooting for around 300whp. also, is it worth it to get an intake?

Its under $100 and easy to install. And if you are going to get tuned/flashed you might as well just to be safe. Trust me you will be addicted to the power and need more soon.

I had issues with the stock pump with a TBE and a tune. Granted that was at the track after about 5 hard laps. I had no issues on the street.

It is probably a good idea. It also lays the foundation to go further in the future if you want to

Personally I wouldn't bother with the intake at this point. They really don't make much power at your mod level.

i've had the car stock for a year and a half... i'm just looking for a little more power, reliability is my main goal... with a TBE and stock ecu what are the gains there? with a TBE and mail in flash what are the gains there?

with tbe and a "mail in flash" it'll probably put you around 273-280 whp. If I was you though I would go ahead and get the fuel pump (since its cheap anyways) so its more reliable and also up your boost to 22psi. That should put you right around 300whp, with mail in, tbe, walbro fuel pump, and 22 psi

ya but its really not to expensive for all that. . tbe around 800$, walbro fuel pump 100$, boost controller (I use turbo x's high performance) 125$, mail in flash 120$, autometer boost gauge 50$. so around 1,200$ for 60whp or more isnt bad at all!!!

Let's put it this way, if you start messing with boost, you need Fuel pump, boost gauge, MBC. Intake? or just K&N cone/drop in? if you talking about the intake, no. Stock intake is fine, and flows good.

ya I would just get a k&n drop in because without a custom tune your gonna lose power with an aftermarket intake

There is really great advice here. Like everyone else said, get the fuel pump. It is cheap and the installation instructions in the "how-to" section here are exceptional and helped me install mine easily. Trust me...you would rather spend the $100 now for the fuel pump than the money later to fix your car after you go too lean and experience detonation.

The IX has an upgraded fuel pump from the VIII right? I'm looking to do the same to my IX but someone said I was fine without the fuel pump because of this.

ya and plus the fuel pump on this car is REALLY easy to install!! takes about 35-45 minutes. You dont have to drop your fuel tank like you do on most cars. its just right under the back seat!

Nope, based on my understanding the fuel pumps in the 8 and the 9 are just about the same.
