anybody "crush their MR BOV like the 1g's?

I was just wondering if anyone has tried crushing their mr bov's, like people have done to the 1g bov's?

if you have personally modified your mr bov, what differences did you notice, good &/or bad?

I like the behavior of my mr bov, but wish it had a bit more seat pressure, cause i hear the valve vent a lot before i get to full boost & I know i am giving up boost response.

trust me, the mr bov is sooo much better than the plastic bov.

Has anyone cut apart a mr or plastic bov too? I wonder if there is spring seat that lives between the spring & the top of the bov? if there is a spring seat, is it solid or does it resemble a valve spring shim & has a large diameter hole in the center? pics of what the oem bov looks like with the diaphram cap cut off would be nice to see to.

I thought that it was only your deceased turbo that was subjected to "cruel and unusual" boost levels. Now you tell us that you crushed your DV and tortured it with 33# as well. LOL

Is there a rule of thumb for crushing these things? Is it just a wee tiny bit in a vise? How do you know without crushing it too much?

Are you joking or serious?

You crush the top of the BOV to make it hold more boost without leaking.

I know that my MR DV is already venting by 11#. I have been wanting to crush the d**n thing, but am an admitted FUBAR expert, so I haven't attempted it yet.

There is no "How to" thread on the subject either. I guess it really can't be that complicated even without a step by step. I am just chicken sh*t.

In the old days of EFI(1980's), before the advent of adjustable fuel pressure regulators, we used to crush factory GM fuel pressure regulators by placing a 14mm socket on the top of the regulator and tightening it up in a bench vise. I guess with a MR DV it would be a similar proceedure.

why dont you get a 1G and crush it. Thats what i run in my BR350 IX and used it in my 03 8. Best BOV i,ve ever used. If it doesnt hold the boost your running get the dejon fix and your done. You,ll have great driveability, and you,ll hold all the boost you can throw at it.

Yes, If it is the same as the ix bov. Mine is crushed, it works but it will also cause it to flutter under partial throttle. And if you get the 1g bov you will need an adaptor to go from the 2 bolt flange to your ic piping. I crushed mine until the nipple hit the body of the bov. Its very easy to do in a vise.

Hahah, I'm not sure how to do it honestly, turbotrix did it for me. I'm pretty cruel, and definitely unusual with just about everything though, my poor clutch....oh I wont even get started....let's just say that must be holding a record for an ACT street disk haha =)
