want your opinion on clutch

i am going big turbo soon(35r or 37r not sure yet) and have heard a lot of bad things from many people and a couple friends about the exedy clutches. one of my friends had one go out in 1k miles and wasnt beating on it at all because it was brand new. i have also heard of many other premature failures on this site and others. so what do you all think? i am thinking about the carbonetic twin carbon but dont here of too many people running it but hear great thing about it. so i am stuck guys!! need your help and advice.i would like to hear from those of you running exedy twins and carbonetic twins. how you like them and some pros and cons of both. thanks guys

I would go with the Tilton Carbon Carbon. Cost of rebuild is $200 and it can withstand the abuse.

But then again, going to a 'large turbo' could mean 420-700+whp depending upon hardware and configuration, so a variety of options may apply with such minimal information.

you'll need a twin or triple disc set up but Tilton is definitely one of the best and hold a crazy amount of power

if you are going to spend the money on the power

do it right

i plan on going built 2.0 with a 37r or the biggest pt67(i shouldnt really say biggest because i think it is just compressor wheel and turbine wheel size) and can someone enlighten me on that too. i definetely want a t4 setup. shooting for 700+whp on c16. but probly will be running 93+meth for a while before getting in the 700 whp range.

drag.ifarted, what pt67 will make the most whp? i know you just a did a build. will it make more than a 37r? i was told that the 37r is still a t3. i want the most hp but dont want a 42r. i really like the pt67 and the numbers they are putting down.

The tilton seems like the better clutch between exedy or ats/carbonetic. Im in the same boat as well trying to find what cutch to run. its seems so hard to choose when your dropping major cash on these clutches. I am also looking at the ACT carbon when it gets released. but who knows when that will be.

It would have been easier to say drag, but ok.

You might want to budget in dss axles, built tc/trans and have some extra differentials lying around.

Good luck with your build.

Exedy triple is another option you might want to check out.

I dont like the fact that the Carbonetics is Carbon to steal. The Tilton is Carbon to Carbon with no metal to warp or crack. When looking into the Caronetics it almost cost as much to rebuild as buying the clutch.

If you do not plan on using N2O for the launch you will need a clutch you can slip a ton. Pauls single plate SBC 6 puck held the power just fine on the street but once we tryed to slip it on a launch it was done.

I think if you are a real drag racer and really power shift you will need a push style clutch. It seems anyone who knows how to drive hard and revs hard will pop the pull style clips like candy.
