2.4 in a evo
Who here has put a 2.4 in their evo? I really need first hand experence on this. I need to know what rods and pistons to use and who makes them, what timing belt to use, why I have to use cam gears, what head gasket, and what I need modfiy to the water pump. Any help would be great.
There are a lot of people out here that have done it and imo it's the only way to go. Give Mynes Performance a call and they can share their knowledge and experience with you as they have probably built more 2.4l cars than any other shop.
Yup, thats what I am using in my setup. Using the eagle crank, eagle rods and JE pistons.
You have to use cam gears to retard the timing since the 4G64 block is taller.. So you have to retard it -2 to actually be zero'd out.

I hadn't heard of this. What might happen if you weren't to retard cam timing on a 2.4 stroker motor? Would there be catastrophic consequences? JW

Check out MynesPerformance.com get their number and call Maxx he will answer any question you have those guys turn those things out like oil changes I know of at least 5 they have done in the past 6 months or so. I believe their turn around is like a week or 2 . They just finished a bad *** one that put down over 720whp on a mustang dyno using a 40r turbo and its streetable.

that is a different car... the Shop 9 with the GT35R is pushing 504whp and it's setup for road racing.
the other White 9 MR is a customer car with the Mynes graphics. that one is also a 2.4 but it has a 40r in it... that's the one that's pushing the higher hp/tq... our customers get those confused quite frequently.
there's currently a BB 9 that's breaking the motor in, and two more in the shop waiting to be assembled... so by summer time, there will be 6 or 7 2.4's running around Phoenix
cheers.

Just wanted to clarify, the 2.4 takes quite a bit of work to make them go... when all the parts are in and ready for the install, we can typically turn them around in 3-4 weeks (since we have quite a few projects going on simutaneously).
