Ok, Ive been doing some research on the subject but need some clarifications. FIrst off I am using a DC Sport Mani and a Zeitronix EGT Probe.
1. It seems that most people agree the best place to tap is the #1 runner. Does it matter where when using a tubular mani? Distance from head? Mounted on the top, side, or angle? Anyone have one mounted on a tubular mani with some pics?
2. I am going to be running meth injection and 28lbs boost. I am also going to be running a failsafe for the meth that triggers a boost cut when several parameters are met, one being EGT. What is the highest temp I should see with my setup to place the failsafe limit? Ive heard anywhere from 1600f-1700f but that is a pretty big range. I dont want to be constantly hitting boost cut. Does running meth change the temps?

I think most people do it outside cyl #2.
Probably not getting many replies cause this topic has been deat to death. I would set the temp for at or around 1600F outside of cyl 2. Cause stock I see that around 1590 if I stay on it for a while and I have read 1600 is entering the danger zone. But I may be wrong, since you rrunning a completely different setup. I know there are several posts on EGTs.

Yeah, I know there are a ton of threads on it but it seems like nothing ever got settled in them. Also Im not sure if running meth changes anything on the EGT's. Id also like to see some pics of how people mounted theres.

See this is another case where there are differing oppinions in every post (not knocking you bolsen). If you search you will see a million people say #2 runs leanest and I am sure another million people say #1 runs leanest. I am sure there is some slight variation in every car but there has to be one that runs leaner than the others. However that said I doubt the temperatures differ too tremendously so put it in the one you want and get a feel for where it runs. I see more people running them in #2 around here, thus I chose number 2 (hehe) so I am comparing apples to apples when I look at peoples posts with temps and such.
Another way to look at EGT is this: When you get the car tuned, hopefully everything is running correctly. Pay close attention to your EGTs all the time from then on. That will give you a range of temps you see during normal operation.
If you see rising or unusually high EGT, there's a problem.

Based on this logging, I set my alarm for 1500, and if it hits that temp, there might be an issue. Not that 1500 is an overly-high temp, but it's higher than normal on my car.

We put all of our EGT probes in cyl #2. Furthest from the throttle body has little to do with EGT temps. It is the location of the injectors in relation to the fuel rail/ FPR that influence cylinder temps through variations in fuel pressure.

I chose runner #2 based on input here on evom. And yes, it seems it's about 50:50 between runner #1 and runner #2. The closer to the head the better to cut down on heat losses and improve accuracy, but honestly, at the velocities in the runners, I can't see how 2" from the head is any different than 5" from the head.
EGT's will very depending on your setup and tune, so it's hard to say where you should set your warning. I always felt that EGT's were monitored to prevent from melting things, and 900C, or 1650F seems to be the accepted max. temps you can take before melting critical things. But I NEVER see those temperatues on alky, probably because of my conservative tune. 11.5's a/f's, and fairly advanced timing, around 21 degrees on at redline. I'm not comfortable running alky (and high boost) for more than quick spurts though, say a 2nd/3rd/4th gear pull. I see around 1450F max.
