When I test drove a IX MR the first thing I noticed was the difference in the shifter from my VIII with the cheapo Authority ss that I put in. It was also very noticable when I got back in my car after the test drive.

I figured that the stock VIII was probably that long and I had just gotten used to the short one, because it seemed long.

Because of the diminished leverage to the driver with a short shifter and thus a heavier mechanical feel, I question if it really helps at all.

on a side note: I had the black Razo heavy knob, and went back and forth from the Authority provided, med weight ball, and then eventually tried the Mitsy leather baseball. My end result was the ss and the stock knob.

(The Razo was much prettier though :-D )

bottom line = a bunch of time & effort (and a little money) spent for little or no payoff.

What about authorized WORKS dealers near you? I know they have ones in MA or NY i believe. And i'm pretty sure you can have them install a WORKS 6spd. short shifter.

Works only does it at their own location.

I agree. With the increased effort the benefit of the shorter throws will be negated. This modification is useless for the Evo in my opinion.

yep i have noticed after i put B&M SHORT SHIFTER, my hands got tired because u need to force harder to get the gear in.

i would leave it stock as well. it was just waste of money
