I didn't like TRE took months to get my GSX trans back after lots of calls and emails. But then again for every one bad experience there is 99 good so who knows.

Tough call for me, since I deal with both BR and Shep. I went with Shep, because he manually shifts his own transmission while running 7s at over 190mph. I figured if he can do that and can build all of the trannies for AMS's time attack cars without failure, then that's perfect for my road racing.

When I got hooked up with Shep, David Buschur helped me, and I thought they that Shep used to build all of the Buschur trannies while Shep ran Buschur engines, but maybe that changed when Daniel started building the trannies himself. Anyway, I personally would trust any of the 3 with my trans/t-case, but I went with who I thought was the best in the business - John Shepherd.

Shep doesn't appear to rebuild TCs (at least, nothing mentioned about that on the website) only replace parts in good condition tcs.

TRE still lists repair/rebuilding on their website for the tc at anywhere from 350 up to I think 600.

I've been looking around a lot because as much as I pray it isn't true I think I may have the death whine, again!

My shep tranny is flawless. I can fly through the gears without any heistation, and it ever glides into 5th flawlessly, something I never thought would happen. Definatly worth the time and money.

So other than cost and whats actually done to the trans... what about turn around time?

That's the biggest thing holding me back (other than $$$). I guess you would have to call each shop to get an ETA...

Well, on paper, TRE seems to have the best value rebuild.

But i did have a direct, and a not so good, experience with one of these builders. It involved getting the tranny rebuilt twice, ending up in the builder buying the bad tranny as a core, and me buying another bad tranny were i rebuilt it my self.

Did you have replace it with a stock TC or Built TC the last time?
