HKS Suction Kit Problems? (Alum Inlet Pipe with Yellow filter)

I'm having problems with the HKS suction kit and i was wondering if anyone has installed this thing successfully. Just to make sure we're talking about the right intake kit, the HKS suction kit is the one with the aluminium turbo inlet pipe withe the yellow filter. After the install, the car had rough idle and choked at 1/4 throttle. Anything more than 1/4 throttle, the car runs fine. I've checked all hoses for vacuum leaks but could not find any. Has anyone successfully installed the suction kit yet?

Mods in car:
HKS Hi-Power Exhaust
Cat replacement pipe
HKS EVC 5
Vishnu XEDE with Stage 1 map

My friend's does the exact same thing we've tried everything. Try resetting the ECU (remove negative batt plug for 15 mins) and see what it does. Do you have an upgraded BOV too?

I just installed my RMR intake this weekend and heres what I found:

Upon installation my idle was up, around 1100-1200. I drove the car around for a day, and today the idle is all back to normal =)

Seems like the ECU needed a good day (70+ miles) to readjust itself.

if the hks kit doesent have a tube for the dump from the BOV and you run the stock BOV then your leakin a whole lot of air and boost youd need to buy a new BOV one thats made for dumping to atmosphere

I had the exact same thing happen. Only I haven't made any mods to the car. I disconnected the battery for a while, reconnected and then the car was idling high for the next day or so. Like yours it eventually calmed down, but it was way weird.

Anybody else had this ?

Anybody got any theories on why ?

the suction kit does have a recirculation inlet. By default it is covered by a rubber cap.

Hey 909... do you have a pic of your HKS Hiper exhaust on your Evo 8 from the back? How did you get a hold of that exhaust although HKS USA hasn't released it yet for us here in the states. Just wondering if you have an Evo 7 exhaust or the 8 from HKS.

hey DB8GSR,

I dont have a picture... the exhaust is maybe 2 inch shorter than it should be, if you have a good welder, you can cut off the rear muffler and remove the metal muffler holders and weld on a 2 inch extention and relocating the metal holders, everything should fit like a glove. It's an Evo 7 exhaust =D. When they say "Evo 8" exhaust it usually means that it's made by HKS USA i think.
