boost controller help

Just installed the boost controller today. Wè took it out and its only boosting to 1.0 I checked all the hookups and everything. The only thing I can think of is that the tubing is not stiff enough. I got it at homedepot. Any suggestions?

sounds like your running off wastegate spring pressure. You'll have to describe in greater detail how you have it hooked up. Pics would be even better.

Two potential problems: (1) your spring is too soft (use the stiff spring) or (2) you have the lines going to the wrong place -- inlet from turbo nipple and outlet going to WGA -- try swapping the lines and see what happens (but turn boost down before testing)....

ok it was backwards but still boosting the same. I have the lines hooked up correctly but it is still boosting the same. Idk whats wrong. The only thing I can think of is the line sucking shut under boost. I got the hallman controller off my friends dsm and it worked fine on his but I got new tubing at home depot. Any one have any ideas??

So, what type of tubing did you get at Home Despot? Personally, I have used all sorts of different tubing in 3/16" and 1/8" sizes, including, windshield sprayer hose, vacuum hose, fuel line, and so on, and I've never had the stuff collapse on me.

If it was collapsing, it would be boosting more, correct? The boost controller works as a limiter on the vaccum line, right? More flow through vaccum line = less boost. (please correct me if Im wrong) Id suspect it isnt hooked up correctly.

Per my earlier statement -- are you sure you have the correct spring installed? You bought the kit used, was it working properly on the previous car and if so how much boost was it holding?

What brand MBC did you install? Are you T-ing into the DV line or the nipple on the turbo compressor outlet pipe as boost reference source? use 3/16" rubber hose and secure all connections tightly with nylon cable ties. Disconnect entire factory vacuum hose assembly and cap off all unused ports. If all else fails try a known "good" MBC from another Evo.

Is there no increase/decrease in boost whatsoever when dialing the MBC from full on to full soft?

it is a hallman pro boost controller. It was on a highly modded gs-t with a 20g. I have the line from the actuator going to the bottom of the boost controller and the line from the compressor housing to the front of the controller.

there is no increase/ decrease it is hitting a little below 1.0 bar on the stock gauge. I know the gauge may not work after the install but if definatly feels like it is loosing power.

I regret to inform you that the boost reference line, i.e. in your case, the hose from the compressor housing discharge nipple, should be routed directly to the bottom port on your MBC, and furthermore that the line from the nipple on the wastegate actuator solenoid, should be routed directly to the side(front?) port on your MBC.
