easiest way to run 2 maps

I'm getting tuned very soon and i'm thinking about intalling a meth injection kit but i want the car to be able to run with the kit off. I guess the easiest way would be to run 2 maps. 1 for 93 oct and one for 93+meth. So my question is, whats the easiest way to run 2 maps without goin standalone.

By using EcuFlash - extremely simple. What you need:

1) Laptop
2) Flashing cable from Tactrix.com ($90)
3) EcuFlash software from openecu.org (free)
4) Tuner to custom tune you for both setups and give you the files electronically for you to use whenever you choose.

You would have to stop to change the maps, but it only takes a minute to load a new map with EcuFlash and the tactrix cable.

No, you'd need something like a UTEC or Xede maybe? I don't think you need to switch while driving. You are planning to run meth but not use it all the time? The reason for running meth is to have all the power all the time, otherwise you'd just use race gas on the rare occasions you want to have all the power. Also, you'd need to do more than change the tune. You'd need to activate the meth, which means you'd have to rig up your own on/off switch, and you'd have to have a way to change your boost, so that would require an EBC.

Without the live map-switching, EBC, and on/off switch, you just have to stop, hook up the laptop, change the tune, crank your Forge UNOS MBC up by the # of clicks you need to reach 26-27psi, and plug in the fuse for the alky. OR, you can just run alky all the time like the rest of us who use alky.

Any MBC or EBC that has in-cockpit adjustments would allow you to change boost without stopping and opening the hood, yes, but I still don't see why you'd want to go through this expense or hassle to make 3 major changes on the fly. Just use your alky all the time, imo. It only sprays when boosting, so it's not like you are wasting it while daily driving.

The reason i want to be able to drive with it off and switch it on is because my girl drives my car once in a while (once a week maybe) and i don't think she would be able to handle more power out of the car. And also i want to be able to floor it and not have my head snap all the time.... I guess i like options too. By the way thanks to everyone for there help

Live map-switching is what you're asking for...the ability to push a button and change tunes on the fly. That's something that the Cobb AccessPort can do on Subies, but they've been "soon to release" the Evo AP for over a year now it seems.

No, you can't just do high boost + alky and low boost + alky. You _have_ to change tunes due to the nature of how alky/meth burns as fuel in the cylinder, which drastically changes your AFRs. If you were doing this with race gas, then you could just change boost and go to town. To do it with alky is more complicated.

If she doesn't go WOT, then it doesn't matter. If you don't go WOT, then your head won't snap back. Our boost is throttle- and rpm-based. I think everyone likes options, but not usually the option of going slow on purpose.

AP= AccessPort. By Cobb Tuning (known for tuning Subys) Its a pocketsized tool that you can plug into the ECU and can either have preloaded tunes or stored custom tunes. You can change tunes easily without the use of tuning knowledge or a laptop being left in the car at all times. Its been out for the suby for years (friend has it/loves it) and theyre developing it for the EVO. Should be out within the next couple months
