5th Gear part numbers for Evo IX

Anyone know one or both of the following

1) parts numbers for Evo IX 5th gear syncro repair

and / or

2) parts and part numbers required for switching and Evo IX 5th gear to a taller 5th gear (Evo VIII?)

Thanks

I could be wrong, but I do not think these gears have part numbers. Try messaging spins4, he works at a Mitsubishi dealership and could tell you for sure. Your going to probably have to replace the entire cluster gearset, not just one gear, if you plan on going with a taller 5th gear.

Only 100-200 rpm? I thought there was a way to get a taller cruising gear, maybe not the Evo VIII gear then...

Thanks sonicnofadz, I'll pm spin4 and see what he can tell me.

Only reason I ask is I have a slight 5th gear grind and if i'm going to have to take down the tranny anyway, was thinking to maybe do this at the same time.

droping in a taller gear wont help if anything go with a taller gear in 4th therfore creating less work for syncros going from 4th to 5th in shifts...

KW273,

I am very curious, are you having issues with the 5th gear? mine grings slightly if you shift fast. Please let me know what your action path would be. I am thinking about taking mine to the dealer.
