Starter gone? Battery? You guys can figure this out.

I went to the Grocery store, no problems at all getting to the store, or driving the car all day. When I Came out, tried to start the car, NOTHING! Radio, lights, everything was full power. I turned the key,got no starter turnover, or anything. Just the Walbro whine. I pushed started the car, and came home. I turned the car off in the garage, and tried to re-start the car, same thing. NOTHING!! Whats going on with the car?

Could be the starter, trying hooking power right up to the starter and see if it turns over. If it doesnt then its your starter.

Had this happen to me before and a wire popped off of the starter and just had to be slid back on. I ended up putting a spot weld on it to keep it from happening again.

Check your ignition fuse under the hood.

When I came home, parked the car in the garage, shut the car off, and IMMEDIATLEY tried to start it again, and NOTHING. I let the car sit for 45 minutes, went out, and it started right up..............ODD no? Something must be shorting out somewhere. I will tell you what it was/is when I go to the dealership tomorrow. Thanks again.

Take your battery to a local auto parts store. Most places will charge your battery and even check and see if its toast. If the battery is fine i would do what scottatayamaha said to check with the starter. I am guessing he is talking about the ground wire to the starter because the power wire to the starter is held on by a nut. The groung wire just clips on. I have pulled my tranny out many of times already so know about the starter quite well.

By the way the starter is right underneath the turbo to the right of the downpipe. The ground wire we are refering to is on the top of the starter.

This happens frequently on GT like race cars...The OEM starters can get heat soaked and then not work if memory serves correct. Most of the GT cars went with much more expensive starters that could take the abuse. Your situation sounds similar...I am sure AMS / Buschur / Vishnu have experience with this and can advise you correctly...Good luck

Man smoked I am telling you to check that wire on the starter....same thing on my car. It had a bad connection at first and would start sometimes and then not. Then one day it slide completly off and would not start anymore and I had to push start it. It is worth checking and will only take a second.

What was that ticking sound? What was the "ghost"? Now that I think of it, I DIED on an autox course, and it did the same thing. It was the "fusable link" to the starter. so maybe that is where I look first. Thanks guys!
