I'm not skeptical about the work or even the price they gave me. I know they are a good shop and i would be very happy with the 2.3, i would just RATHER not spend the money. Taxes are here and a few other issues, if it wasn't for the money this would be a no brainer.

just do it you have no other options that are going to save you thousands.sell your mr2. BTW I had a 92 mr2 turbo before the evo. a mistsub dealer told me when I spun my bearing, was to replace the bearing and drive to a dealer and trade it in.

I have a RRE built 2.0L. Very strong motor, from a well regarded and long-time 4g63 builder. You'll have no problems with a RRE build, and having them close by is a big plus. You might consider paying the small difference to have Crowers or Pauter rods rather than Eagles, since you'll have quite a bit in the motor anyway.

The estimate looks pretty reasonable when you consider the cost of the included parts and figure they are doing the whole install as well. It's better to get a realistic estimate up front and not have a nasty surprise later in either the $ or the reliability category.

i guess trying to get a dealer warranty is not an option? considering it's stock...and you weren't racing, you were running at a driver's safety school...right?

Eagles are a serviceable option, but Buschur and others have experienced some failures. I was simply saying that since you're going to have $6000+ in the motor, and the rods are one of the most important components, I'd spend the extra $300 over the $380 the Eagles would cost and get Crowers for peace of mind.

I spun a bearing on my motor around 34,000 and I'm getting a complete race block top and bottom built including all parts and labor for $5,000.00 you should check around more for a better price.

Interesting thread about RRE.
Just wondering why you guys are spinning bearings with such low miles.

FWIW....I have done a lot of business with RRE...Mike Welch is the ultimate guru for all Mitsu's. I started with RRE back when they were located in Huntington Beach... they have a cult like following, PHENOMINAL customer service, and they are open late. You are in the best hands going there....once again, FWIW

I bought a complete Zeitronix wideband solution from RRE.
I'm in Pasadena so RRE isn't to far.

I'm thinking about having them
do cams, headstuds, valves springs and retainers.
