knocking??

Ok, i was jumping my integra with my evo yesterday and after 5 or 6 mins i started hearing a clicking kind of sould. So i started looking around the engine and i didnt see nothing then I started thinking maybe it was knocking. When i listened closely it sounded like it could be in the head. I reved it up while under the hood and the clicking sped up with rpms and that really scared me. But then today when i started it, it wasnt making the noise at first it took another 5 or 6 mins before it came back and as far as i know knocking doesnt start after warming up?? And also i remebered when i blew my integra motor up i knew 100% it was knocking and i could hear it in the car and i can not hear it on the evo unless the hood is up. Ne one have ne thoughts??

Purchase a mechanics stethoscope and locate where the sound is coming from. If its coming from the head, then its probably just a lifter or the injectors. If its coming from the block, start saving up for a new engine.

more than likely its your injectors and/or lifters. Nothing real serious. . its a dsm motor! lol But the reason mainly that it started after sitting there for so long, is because when your car just sits there you dont have as much oil pressure. And when its cold outside or the car isnt really warmed up the lifters will get petty loud for a minute. Dont worry man, most evo's have the famous lifter and injector tick!

Clicking with RPM - head, lifters, ...

Ticking at idle is IDCX4 (injectors) normal ops

Knocking (the sound, not detonation) with rpm at certain loads/rpm = $$$$$

Never rely on hearing knock as an indicator, if you really hear it -

more details yet?

My experience matchs the DSM experience. My evo might have a slight knock at start when it is cold. That occurred a lot during the winter when I lived in Denver. Now that I am in Phoenix, I never hear it. I used to have two gen 2 eclipses. Both had the same sound. More than likely no big deal. Do the tests the other guys said, but I think you are fine!
