boost controllers......
im a little confused when it comes to this whole boost controller thing...My friend just put a greddy profec b spec 2 in his car....he was telling me that it spikes sometimes...what i wanna know is whats the difference between a 150$ one and a 350$ one??? if they all serve the same purpose and they all spike sometimes...whats the point of buying the more expensive one? yes..one is electronic and one is manual...is this the only thing separating the two....i really need some input on this because im in the market now and ima buy one very shortly...i see people at the local shop playing around with theirs and getting all confused...i dont want that problem at all..!! i jus wanna set it once for pump gas and then set it again for race gas and jus go.!! So please if i can get some feedback from anyone on this forum...it would be greatly appreciated....
the electric ones usually have some other features that are neat to play with but essentially unneccesary and you'll save a good amount of money if you go with the mbc. You can easily get an MBC for under a $100....mbc's are also easier to install from what i've read..both work the same
Some EBC come with different features which really jacks up the price or named brand products. I would just go with a MBC unless you switch from race gas to regular octane often. Some EBC only go up to a certain PSI as well. I think you should just seach on the topic as probably every Boost Controller has a review on it.
The only real nice options for an EBC over and MBC is easy in car adjustability and you can have a high and low boost setting. Once for pump gas tune and one for meth/race gas.
MBC is just easier all around and if you don't with the boost once it's tuned for it then its the way to go.

save some cash and get an mbc

i have the hallman rx kit - works great for adjusting the boost at any time

Or.... you can just spend $75 for the tactix cable, download ecuflash for free, and retune the stock BCS system. Heck, it IS an EBC! And then just go ahead and retune your whole car (fuel, timing, mivec, rev limit, etc).
If given the choice, I'd go with the MBC + gauges vs. EBC. Yes the EBCs like the Apexi AVCR has cool features such as rpm/ gear specific boost tuning. But in the end all you want is stable boost all along the RPM band and the MBC delivers that.
eh...the features an ebc provides allows for weather change, its something mbc's dont take notice of.
mbc may be the way to go, but properly tuning with an ebc was always my first pick for that reason.
btw i have a Greddy profec b spec II as well. Its easy to use but i hate when it resets

ebc over mbc.....mbcs dont account for temp changes...and who wants to go to the track and have to do a couple of runs to set the mbc up...with the ebc i set it up and go...and with ebcs you can fine tune the wastegate pressure to lessen boost spikes...also ebc record peak boost
I would recommend going with a MBC...my friend just got rid of his ebc cause it was spiking too much. He got a forge mbc and likes it a lot better. i just installed my turbo logic boost controller and it works good too.
