car sputter/hiccup..Any ideas?

When I'm in idle the car seems to sputter every 5-6 seconds, it's like a hiccup. I started noticing this problem after a WOT run in 4rth gear. The car started the hiccup but It didnt feel like it lost any power.

Any ideas of what it could be?

Check your intercooler piping and intake pipe. I am willing to bet a large sum of money you had a hose pop off or become loose.

My car has been doing this since August. Like when I come to a stop at a light or whatever, after a few seconds of idling, the idle will suddenly drop to 400-500rpms and then come back up to normal. It will do this several times during a stop, but it doesn't necessarily do it EVERY time you are idling. There are no driveability problems etc.

Any ideas? It did this before and after a flash, before after all my mods actually....so yeah, even when it was stock.

I have the same problem with the evo and also with my old lancer, i think it's voltage variations.

I wonder if any of the grounding kits or voltage stabilizers help with this issue? IE The Sun Automotive stuff.

i'll try the plugs.

But I'm going to bump this because i want to hear more. It's like a pop every 5 seconds and sometimes under the car there is a sound like key chains hitting metal...Maybe the heat shield. it's not loud only noticeable when i go under the car.
