Factory alarm

While the car is running if you hit the door lock button it activates the alarm as if the car was off and no key in ignition. Everything works as it should just that slight hiccup. Any ideas?

They don't have factory alarms. Any alarm on your car is custom work and you'll have to pay someone to diagnose it

Yeah, I remember having some "electrical gremlins" and Mitsubishi couldn't touch the car due to an "aftermarket alarm". Up to that point I always thought it was an OEM alarm.

Keyless entry is not an alarm. Yes keyless entry is OEM but that did not include an alarm

But the keyless entry is tied into the horn which notifies you if its locked or unlocked and you can set off an alert?

Aside from the myriad of completely pointless posts explaining the difference between what an alarm is an what keyless entry is... I'm going to step out of line and see if I can... oh I don't know... actually HELP?

Couple questions...

1. When you say it activates the "alarm" (which we've already deemed to be "just keyless entry") what do you mean exactly? Does the horn chirp or what?

2. The only key fob you have (I'm assuming from your comment) is the factory Mitsu one?

3. Is the car driving weird, or otherwise acting odd? Are there any other electrical gremlins?

4. Was there something that happened that you've noticed that may have caused this?

Cheers m8!

no good alarm should "Arm" when the car is running the Run circuit disables the Alarm, Via Relay - depending on the alarm. if it was always doing this it could be the "nature of the beast" or a bad install. Here is a quick check see if the car starts with the alarm Activated, if it does that alarm was installed improperly. Or it could be just a real cheap Alarm, that only works the locks and goes off if someone hits or breaks a window, IMO these types of alarms ar pointless.

Figured out what the problem was. It was in fact a cheap alarm set up that works with the keyless entry remote. They used I believe most people call them vampire clips. I've never used these and glad I haven't because it leaves a crappy job. Got the car with a little over 3k miles but within that time there was a lot of crappy work done. So this weekend I will be fixing all the f ups.
