I have an evo and I was woundering at what RPM the turbo starts spooling. I'm saying this because i want to start driving normal and stay out of the spool to save gas. I believe its at a little over 3,000... Can someone varify this. thanks
I'd say you should get a Boost gauge (with a vacuum/boost sweep) driving style, engine load, and where you drive will make a difference on when you start spooling, however the car does begin to produce boost at about 2500-3000 RPM, its negligable but if your Vacuum gauge (boost gauge) reads zero, its actually starting to spool at that point, or a few hundred RPM above.. I've found a good rule of thumb is to try to keep as light a throttle as possible, and keep the revs around 3000 rpm to get best gas mileage.. The other advantage is at about 3100 rpm, you begin to build boost quickly which means you have the horsepower right under foot at that point...

yeah i usually shift at between 2500-3100 depending on how fast i need to accelerate... Yes boost gauge is in the works, I'm waiting for the dual pillar pod to come out. Any recomendations? I really want the whole replacement pillar, Hopefully soon. What do you usually shift at for good milage?
