Bov setting

i just bought an evo IX and it came with a greddy rs bov. i know they suck and i read up about them. today when i looked under the hood and i noticed that the washer nut on the top of the bov was gone. i was wondering: 1. is this going to cause a problem? 2. should the setting be on hard or soft? currently its on hard..
