been using the helix camshafts for almost a year now, the lift is actually a little higher than the hks. using them the AMS 50trim right now, made 360hp(mustang dyno)... get the helix...

There's not a lot. I've been asking about the quality levels for a while but no one will answer....

No one can really answer about quality issues because not enough people have them and have used them long enough to tell. The only way to judge quality is basically to make sure theyre OK from the starts. Until people start putting tons of miles on them, people will not know. Im sure they will be fine just like the HKS

I was talking about someone from Gruppe-S. They sell the parts, but never say anything to back them up when asked....and I've asked numerous times.

I love Gruppe-S...think the website is great, and the parts packages are awesome, the Helix stuff is the only thing I'm not sure with because well...no one uses them.

From what I can tell, HKS, Crower, Cosworth and GSC are the brands people tend to use....

I think I was one of the first to try/review the V2 cams on my VIII. Though I no longer have the car/cams, I never had a single problem with them. I chose them over ther HKS 272s because they're hollow...just as Mitsu designed the stockers. I like the fact that they're billet (not cast) as well. If I had it to do over again, I'd still choose the Helix V2s.

Hi,

The Helix camshafts are great quality camshafts. There's two reasons for this:

1. They are billet cams. Which means they are machined from a forged tooling, then heat threated (which costs way more to do) and have less quality issues than chilled cast cams. Furthermore the stronger billet allows the cams to be hollow cored for less rotating mass than the HKS units.

2. The rockwell hardness of the cams exceeds that of HKS cams - what this means is better wear characteristics and a longer lasting camshaft.

Also, Although not widely discussed, on average we have seen Helix 272 cams make more power than HKS cars. But this is hard to say for certain as every car is different - we have never done a back to back test against HKS cams, but from what we are seeing and hearing the Helix cams perform at least as good if not better htan HKS 272 cams.

I have personally ran the Helix 272 cams in my EVO for over 45,000 miles. They continue to work great.

Cheers,

Gary
