RnR GT40R turbo kit
RnR GT40R turbo kit
Anyone running this kit? Did a search but didn't really find that many people running it. I am thinking about buying this kit to put on my 2.4 motor.
Was curious to see dyno numbers + track times with this kit.

only reason im selling is because i maxed this tubo out.
As for track times i never got a clean pass. i think i ran about 6 times on this kit with the 2.4 but had some fuel system issues. once those were fixed i went back and had tranny issues. the tranny would not **** into 3rd at all and i ran a best of 11.4 at 127 again no third gear.

It sounds like it would be a great setup for me... I am just worried about the whole RnR thing since there are so many mix reviews with them.
Just looking for some more opions and anyone eles that has actually used the setup.

You're planning on getting a used kit correct? Last I heard RnR was not in business anymore.
Most of the problems with RnR came from their horrible customer service and shipping times. If you're buying used you won't have to worry about that.
I'm running their 50 Trim kit and am quite pleased with the results thus far. I had no major problems with fitment. The o2 housing included left much to be desired however. I spent some time cleaning up some restrictions at both the inlet and outlet. Otherwise I've had no problems or complaints to date. I'm hoping with more tuning and seat time, my times will improve this year.
I guess I would have to say if the price was right, I'd consider buying one again(not from RnR directly of course!). There would have to be some major savings over some of the more popular kits out there for me to consider it though.

If the manifold really is THAT bad and cracks on me or whatever.. I can always have my friend make me a custom manifold.
Just trying to gather info on this turbo kit or other RnR kits that are holding up well.. not RnR's crappy customer support/buisness.
I can't imagine anyone even CONSIDERING going with a turbo like this from RNR. That absolutely amazes me. They were such a horrible business that they completely left the Evo community. Yeah, you may not deal with them due to buying it used, but you're buying their shoddy business and shoddy craftmanship. You also know you'll have _0_ support if any problems arise.
You could so easily get a very nicely built turbo kit from a major Evo vendor who really knows what they're doing. On top of that, the GT40 is one of the least recommended. It's better to use a 35R or 42R - the 40s kinda flopped.

I don't want to do a 35R because to get the numbers I will be happy with I will have to be boosting high and on race fuel.
The 42R doesn't seem ideal for street driving and on a 2.4 since I can't rev high like a built 2.0.
And I am not looking at spending 5K on a brand new turbo kit when I can get this one for a fraction of the cost and it will meet my needs.. I think that saying I will have zero support if I buy a certain turbo kit used is kind of funny. I am not giving RnR any more money. How is buying a used kit, from a 3rd party that isn't even related to RnR a crime in your book? Thanks for de-railing my thread.
