Alternative to Garrett turbo maybe????

take a look at this link. very intresting stuff.

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=707444

if they could do a BB core then you could run a 74mm and make the same power as a GT42!!

thanks Chris.

i agree EvolutionBoy67.

it seems like a great idea to me! if a ST70 can do the same as a GT42 its going to be pretty insane!

come on buschur, ams or anyone else. lets have your opinions.

Hey chuntingtion 101 do you know how big the wheel is in a gt42r? For example a gt35r is a 65lb/min wheel. How big is a gt42r?

Evolutionboy im not sure mate. i think its rated at about 1000bhp but it depends what exhaust housing you get. there is a T4 and a T6 version. i think the T4 GT42 is conpearable to a T76 but im not sure.

by the way thanks for showing some intrest in this thread. seams like no one else is bothered about getting a turbo thats is smaller in size yet can diliver more power!

I'm also interested in spooling a larger turbo sooner, but was thinking on a little smaller scale than you are. I'm looking for better spool-up and powerband, not quite ready to make GT42r power. Not looking to build my engine yet...

Besides dual BB, (and more displacement or nitrous) any other ways to spool one of these bigger turbos up sooner? I know Borg-Warner uses the ET, but not sure how effective that is... Also, what about using Ti or Mg turbine components for quicker spool? Or will that result in surge?

I seriously need to talk to Robert over at FP; he really knows his sh*t...

The ST-74 being offered by ForcedInductions is the same size Internally as a 42r 74.2mm. However they are NOT BB and will barely Spool on a 2.0 or 2.3. The Physical Size comes from Garret using a large Frame housing for the 42r's

If yo are looking for alternatives talk to Jose or DR. Turbo abou the Airwerks S200 and S300 line of turbos.

These Turbos are ment for moderately sized 6cyl and 8cyl motors that need a a bit more power without going to t6 or large frame turbos

ETT Wheels are in my opinion the Best techology to date for turbo's much better than BB CHRA's

TI Turbine wheels will kill spool! Ti is far to dense for a DD application, thats the reason Ti exhaust is so light, you can use an incredibly thin wall pipe and still keep the strength and durability . But if you plan on building a full race motor running alcohol and antilag and need a wheel to take the abuse then yes a Ti turbine wheel is for you.

thanks again guys.

Noogles i think mudducl was refering to the TME turbo as that uses a Ti wheel and shaft. these things are designed for grope N use where they see alot of anti-lag and hard use and quick spool is the key. they where deisgned as a Ti turbo out the box i thnk so they use much less Ti and thus get the weight down. a bit like the Ti exhaust Noogles mentioned.

wonder if they could combined the ETT wheels with BB cores????

form what i have seen mudduck, anti-lag is the best way to reduce spool up times on an Evo. but this also reduces the life of the turbo.

To my Knowledge no, they will not be combining the ETT wheels until BW/AW makes their own design.

The TI wheels on the TME turbo's ar TIAl if i remember correctly just enough Ti for the density and stregth and Aluminum for weight. they are not Straigh Ti like the wheels sold by FI

see the very top of here.

now it is a race setup, but still proves that BIG TRUBOS can work!
