shurflo from the factory run 150psig max. they are big, heavy and they are robust

with zip ties and hose clamps from the factory

Zip ties and worm drive clamps don't seem like a nice mounting solution to me. That seems more like a quickly rigged solution. Perhaps it would be better to use something like the 400-920 walbro external pump clamps (the name of the style of clamp eludes me right now) as a more solid and cleaner solution.

when you raise the operating pressure of the pump, the following happens:
-current draw increases, heat generated by the windings increases - heat kills the pump - pump was DESIGNED to run 35psig max and the heat generated from a 35psig pump.
-seals leak
-diaphgram will tear

if you yourself think its ok, do not convince others its ok, it is not and its messed up to think that its ok to run a ****ty alky system and run a failsafe.
I simply quoted SMC from another thread stating what is done to the flojet pump to reliably(questionable) achieve 100psig+. You should be directing your comments to Steve at SMC.

Again, I said if anyone still questions the reliability of the SMC kits, there are several other nice kits out there to choose from. The point in the matter is I as well as hundreds of others have been running these kits for some time now with the modified flojet pump and have not had a single issue. I'm including all of the suby and GN guys as well. Personally though, I know of two others plus myself that have been running this kit for well over a year now with no problems. We all run 100% meth as well.

I don't doubt your knowledge on this subject but if what you stated was true regarding the short comings of this pump, I don't think SMC would be in business anymore from all of the "failures". Sure I've seen mention of a couple pumps failing on this forum but with so many kits out in use, there will always be a couple lemons and those owners will without a doubt bring it to our attention on this board.

FWIW I'll add that as of March this year, I sent my controller/pump off to Steve to have it modified to achieve 120psig with a M15 nozzle. Still running strong and I'll continue to run it at this pressure until it fails, if or whenever that day should come.

For everyone reading, this is my opinion with some personal facts thrown in. I am certainly NOT trying to convince anyone to run a SMC alky injection kit. This just happens to be the kit I run and I feel it necessary to mention the success that I as well as many others have had with it.

Yeah but you get those people that have to think the system they are running is the best and everyone needs to convert. Silly really.

At the end of the day I'd rather have a quality system with AWSOME customer service. Steve @ SMC is great to deal with and bends over backwards to make sure his customers are happy. To me that means more than anything. I have called asking if he could make kits to my specifications for various different cars he doesn't have a listed application. Steve has always been very receptive to my ideas and suggestions for improving the kits.

How much is a gallon of methanol? Who carries it on the east coast? I'm in Delaware, but I'll travel if I have to.
