Alky horror stories???

After having a few years out there, I'm lookin to see if generally alcohol injection systems have been good or bad for engines. I've heard that running alcohol has many pros even outside being able to run high boost. I'm wondering mainly, how many people have had catastrophic failures due to malfunctioning(for whatever reason) alky systems?

Almost all failures are due to lack of monitoring of the system or lack of a good failsafe. If you dont run a good failsafe or monitor air/fuel constantly with a wideband you are setting yourself up for failure.

So I've heard. This is what I'm looking for. What's been the cause of peoples failures? Or, has anyone had a reliable failsafe system save their motor?

Been running SMC kit for about 6 months now with zero issues. It tells me when it's low on alky and I go easy until I top off the tank. Ran through about 15-20 gallons of denatured alcohol so far

I watch my gauges like I watch my rear view mirror. If you monitor everything, chances are you will not have a problem. I have yet to hear a pump failing unless there was some faulty wiring. Been running 100% meth for over a year.

monitor your flow, fluid level, afr, egt - any of these parameter outside the preset limits, send all boost to the wastegate with a failsafe.

not fun racing and having to watching gauges

I've been running a SMC kit with 100% meth for over a year now. No complaints or failures to speak of. I check the pressure on mine every so often and always hit the test button for a sec before I go out on a spirited drive. Like others have said, get a nice failsafe and you've got nothing to worry about.

SMC kit here with safety injection, at 28psi on 20g, 5k on the car so far, no problem, IF you take care of the kit, make sure nothing leaks and never run out of meth - you will be safe! I love it. btw I run Evoscan from time to time just to check on everything.

GM People with grand national's run meth, all their life.

Really? I thought it was just common knowledge that shur-flo pumps failed after a while.

You could be right. Mine has had zero issue so far though. I bought my kit used from Jrod@buschur, not sure how much use it had before me but I've got about
15k out of it so far.

I'm pretty sure i'm the one who runs the most amount of methanol on this forum.
I've never had any problems. even thought my kit is a bit custom i run 4 m15 nozzles at 120psi (can do 150 if wanted) being fed by twin Weldon 2032-A pumps.

Never had any sort of problem.... other than running out of methanol, lol
