Problems after installation

I installed a boost gauge. It read fine. vacum was around 17 and it went just aboe 19 PSi around 3650 RPM. I installed a cone filter and new recirc fore mtrsprt MOB and now it shows a vacum of 30 and only goes to 15 PSI. Why would this have caused this dramatic change in boost?

are you using a manual boost controller?? If so you will have to readjust it. If not you should probably reset the computer and let it re learn the new setup.

Is it possible that you fubard the factory boost controller lines when installing the intake??

Or maybee you have a boost leat around in the BOV plumbing.

Never touched the factory boost controller and there are no leaks in the BOV checked it today and took it out and put it back in to double check and same problem. I will try to reset the comp, but I do not see how that would affect it.

wait, 30 in. of vacuum is not possible. It sounds like the gauge is a POS. Well 30 is possible but you'd be collapsing hoses and **** left and right.
Well unless you have an excessive amount of atmospheric pressure where you live.

That's even stranger cause Autometers are pretty good gauges.
It's purely coincidence apparenty. Talk to Autometer about getting it fixed.

Just send them a message to see if they know why it is doing this or if I need a new one. Hopefully they will send me one for free :

Sounds like you pinched the nylon line. Recheck the whole line from the source to the gauge and kinda yank it on both connections to see it its piched/loose/cut/torn somewhere. I have an Autometer boost gauge and it works very well.

Gauge has to be bad. Even pinched and holding vacuum at 20 in. when the car is off wouldn't allow it to hit 30 in. If it is relatively new they will waranty it. Autometer is pretty good.

With the engine off the gage should read zero. If not the gauge is defective or damaged.

Yeah I was just thinking the same thing.. Sounds like a pinched hose or bad gauge.. I've used autometer gauges for almost 20 years without having any trouble with their mechanical ones.. Actually I've had an occasional problem with an electrical gauge (usually the sender) and their AutoGage series (inexpensive gauges) have given people I know trouble.. I use only Sport-Comp or Pro-Comp gauges and have never had trouble.

I usually ahve a few spare gauges laying around where I can swap it out to be certain.. but it does sound like a bad gauge.
