Question IC piping pops off @ 17-18 psi?

I just recently installed a Perrin MBC, and set it at the minimum setting, but now whenever i try a wot run, my boost hits 17-18 psi then i hear a load bang and i lose all power, and i get the cel and black smoke from the exhaust. i know there are a lot of threads about piping popping off and i have some tbolt clamps on order, but i dont get why they would pop off when im running less than stock boost, and this never happened before i had the mbc installed?

Yes t-bolt clamps will stop the pipes from blowing off. Or you could just go through and tighten all the worm clamps like I did and call it a day....

The hairspray trick is an old one, and makes it's way into every IC pipe popping off thread, it's hard to believe people still haven't heard of it. A little hairspray on the pipe dries tacky when assembled and holds it in place. If you rough up the pipe first with some 80-100 grit and use hairsray, you'll need a screwdriver to seperate the coupler from the pipe, it's that solid. Just roughing up the pipes and using tbolts has always worked for me, even when wrapping the 35 psi gauge to the pin.

This seems a bit ridiculous. I am using the stock clamps running 33psi and they hold. How is it Tbolts are needed to run stock boost? I dont think they are tightened enough or put in the correct location. You definitely do not need Tbolt clamps with that boost pressure.

Stock style clamps lose their ability to hold the full rated clamping force over time with use. Even the heavy duty high torque ones that are available. People often overtighten them and "strip" them as well, to make things even worse. After I removed my UICP a couple times doing other work on the car, it kept blowing off at the TB. I ran one t-bolt there for a long time, and eventually did them all when I got around to it. Sure, you don't "need" t-bolts, but if you have to get new ones why **** around with anything else. It goes without saying, IMO.

Well I definitely think Tbolts are great, but I have 70k on my car, and still have some of the stock clamps on there that have came on and off A LOT. I have been running 23psi since the car had 3000 miles on it. Now at 70k running over 30psi. Maybe I have some awesome luck :-)

I honestly think you are depending on that luck when running worm gear style clamps. I have boxes full of them in the garage. Some would seem to fail right on install, others would go for years for no obvious reason. Ultimately I gave up on them altogether and they've all sat in that box for the last 6 years. Haven't had a problem since, except on polished or smooth pipes that needed a little 80 grit love.
