exedy hyper single help! how much power?

Hey guys, I'm thinking about buying my buddies Exedy hyper single and i'm gonna get a rebuild kit for it, but first, I need to know how much torque capacity it has. Atm, i have a exedy stage 2 and love it, but feel that that won't last me with my upcoming mods which i expect to be in the mid 400 region, probably big turbo blah blah...so does anyone know how much power these hyper singles can hold? any experiences with them would help too! Thanks!

You can find this info on vendors sites, but i believe its around 500 lbs/ft of torque.

The stg2 pucked clutch is a higher level than the hyper single. You would be going down the ladder of power capacity, not up...

I don't recommend a regular single disk for big power.

It doesn't cost twice as much. They are both about the same. You're probably looking at one price including the flywheel and one without. The current stg2 4-puck cerametallic is $900 or so for the whole thing (including chromoly flywheel).

^ so why wouldnt someone spending that much on a clutch just fork up the extra dough for a twin disk? I have one and love it, worth every dime.

Dnealy, that is typically what I recommend - to just go ahead and get the Exedy Twin HD for $1300 or so.

wonder why they consider the hyper single the stg. III clutch then? it looks like the twin plate setup, just a single instead. i'm sure it's probrably lighter than the 4-puck.

On my Exedy Specification and Comparison Guide, there is no stg3.

Hyper single is good to 400ftlb/tq...your evo will wear it out pretty fast at 400ftlbs/tq. An RX-7 guy I chatted with wore his out pretty fast at 350wftlb/tq.
