Lightbulb Favorite downpipe

Anyone have a favorite downpipe that will bolt up to the stock cat and not cause any other fitment issues ?

I'm thinking about a works ECU reflash mapped for 93 octane and a downpipe. Should be a nice kick in the pants with a completely OEM sound ... hehe .. can an EVO be a sleeper ?

If you are going for the Works reflash, likely you want their downpipe as they offer a discount plus they only flash for their parts.

I think the Monster Sport downpipe is the best quality and we use it on our SUPER EVO!!!!

For the price, RMR hands down.

A: You won't see it.
B: They are all the same as far as gains.
C: If you buy a fabricated one from a vendor, it will fit
D: How much quality can you put into such a simple part?

Conclusion: Go for the best value. Or the vendor you seem to like most.

I just installed the RMR the other day. The fit was perfect.
The flanges were nice and thick and it was well made (welds/bends). Since it is a flanged pipe it easily matched up to the cat.

Remember, any pipe at 3" is going to hit the underbody braces.
You either have to shim the stock braces or go aftermarket.
The RMR was much heftier than the stock ones.

There is pics and stuff in the zip file on the ftp site of you want to see it all.

The Ultimate Racing 3" downpipe does NOT hit the underbody braces. Has everyone been under a rock for the past few months? They have pictures on their website (www.ultimate-racing.com) that shows how the DP does not interfere with the braces whatsoever.

I installed mine a few weeks ago and it fits perfect. The only thing I dont like about it is removing the donut from the stock O2 housing then using your own silicone gasket material to make a gasket for the downpipe/o2 housing.

Call Daryll up and he'll take care of you!

Okay so you don't have to with the UR, but the fact that they didn't flange it to fit the O2 housing and you have to silicone it seems messy, not to mention unreliable for sealing. But that's just my.02. For the same price I'd like it to fit as stock.

Well I'm currently in the process of hunting down a HKS Silen Hi-Power exhaust, found it at takakaira.com for $622 but they say tack on another $322.48 for shipping, can't do that but will find a way to get it from someone. Anyways, spoke to HKS USA and they said that they have always made the Evo downpipes in 2.6 inch instead of 3, say that the lower rpm power loss is too great with 3 inch.
