Evo ix gain downpipe only?

So...........I wan't to keep the car quite and maintain the stock cat. Will a Tanabe
2.75 downpipe and ECU flash improve the power? Or just a flash?

the DP is a good addition and will not increase noise at all. Most of the power will come from the flash, but the DP will also add to it.

why don't you work around the stock cat and get a 3'' dp and quite catback such as fujitsubo rm01a? that with a flash should def. improve power.

Damn, guys, "quite" is not the same word as "quiet." Not sure why people have such a hard time with that.

CC2, a DP won't do anything for you with the stock cat and cat-back still in place, but the flash will help a lot no matter what - just be sure to add an MBC along with the flash. A good way to trick the system is to get an $80 test pipe that bolts right up to the stock DP and stock cat-back, gives you 10-15whp, and it will still look and sound stock. That will give you more gains for less money. You could even add the DP to the test pipe along with stock cat-back and stay quiet with decent gains in power and spool. This is the opposite way you're supposed to mod, but if you want to retain stock sound and looks, that's how you do it.

Qwon, the Fujitsubo is incredibly expensive, makes very little power, and doesn't look stock. Yes, it's quiet, but why pay $1000 to make 5whp just to be quiet, eh?

So.......If I go with a test pipe then I need to "trick" the o2 sensor? Which
speedelement should be able to do when they do the flash?

Greddy SP2 Exhaust, HFC, and 3 inch DP. Quiet and performing exhaust.

$1000 is overexaggerating, i paid $725 new - you could always get this much cheaper used.

I could be wrong but I would bet that a DP+TP w/ the rm01a would make more than 5whp than the same DP+TP mated w/ stock catback.

They don't "trick" it with the tune - it's done with a CEL fix. There's several methods for it, and I'm sure they sell at least one of them.

Don't bet - show us the dyno results. It's proven to make much less power than less restrictive and MUCH less expensive cat-backs. It's a nice exhaust, but it's a big waste of money for what you get.

It's $900 on multiple sites. $725 is not normal. Sure, you can get it for less used, but you can get anything for less used. Even at $725, it's more than many full TBEs and makes very little power for the money.

I'm pretty sure that SBR's Evo IX dyno testing showed a gain of 9whp/9wtq with only adding a 3" DP to a bone stock Evo IX.

The test pipe addition also made similar power.

However, the stock catback must not have been THAT much of a restriction (at stock-like power levels), because replacing it with a 3" catback didn't make much more power (like 5whp, IIRC)... So, I personally wouldn't blow too much $$$ on it.

For your goals, I'd recommend a 3" DP, test pipe w/ CEL fix (search: anti foulers), an $85 manual boost controller, and a base tune (I'd go with a $52 Jestr ECUflash via the email - but you'll need to get a $90 Tactrix cable first, so you can download/upload from your laptop to your car's ECU)

Good Luck!

+1 test pipe with the stock exauhst works better then a down pipe going right back into the most restrictive part of the exauhst

Just an FYI, the Jestr M1 has nearly trippled in price, it's now $150 not $52 anymore. I got lucky by getting in before the price spike. His flashes are the **** though.
