I don't have any hard data on boost before and after, but I did not touch the MBC between tests, and my boost gauge reads essentially the same as it did before.

My other mods are in my sig:

K&N Cone - Hallman MBC - Helix 3" TBE - Walbro FP - AGP FMIC - Nisei LICP - DSG Tuned

I blew the cold pipe off today, so I changed to stock clamps. The stocks hold real good for now.

I agree. Not sure why my car is underpowered.

Wow, nice write up!

Nice usable power increase throughout the whole power band.

AGP currently offers a FMIC($599) , solid front roll stop engine mount ($90), and dual chamber oil accumulator ($120) for the Evo VIII/IX.

Stay tuned for their turbo kit release sometime this fall!

What are your logs telling you? How is your timing curve? AFR? Was your mivec map changed? Is there any knock?

It was tuned by Matt at DSG who's really good with Evos. I don't have a wideband, but on the dyno it went from 14.5 to 11.5 with absolutely 100% zero knock.

He did change the Mivec map and gave me more top end power, but I dunno... it's kind of depressing.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

In regards to my tune and my low power...

I was tuned on a Dyno Dynamics and put down 220 on my stock map and 262 after the tune. This was before I did my FMIC and LICP, but all other mods in my sig were done at the time. I do not have a cat, just an open test pipe.

If anyone wants to examine my logs, they are available at http://out.psysem.com

The first is the stock FMIC and stock LICP, the second is the AGP FMIC and Nisie LICP. Thanks in advance.

I looked @ your timing and your car is hitting -6 to -7* @ ~3k rpm. IMO, the negative timing is the cause of the power loss. You should not go lower than 4-5* timing @ peak boost/torque on an Evo 9 on 93 octane gas. You are hitting -7* and that is even before peak.

If the wideband on the dyno is anything like the one on the dynojet, then it is worthless. Get a wideband installed and log your AFR. All turbo cars mist have a wideband, IMO. That should be your next mod.

As I said in my post, it is likely your timing. I have no idea why the tuner gave you negative timing numbers when a stock 9 does NOT go negative @ WOT. Maybe it was knocking and he wanted to keep 23 psi of boost and a lean AFR so he compensated by pulling timing.

Another thing, how was your boost set? Was it logged or did the tuner eyeball the gauge and set the MBC?

I will consider getting a Wideband, perhaps an LC-1.

Boost was logged with the dyno, it didn't need to be changed that much. I went in with it set to spike at 21 and when I left it spiked at 23, still no knock. We turned it up to 25 and got 3-4 counts, this is with 93 + torco accellerator in a mild mix (32oz of Torco and 14 gallons of 93)

If you want some quality help as to why your car is not producing the power it is supposed to, then post your logs in the ECUflash forum. There are many knowleadgeable people in that section of Evom that can help. Post your logs and you will get good responses.

With timing numbers the way they are your test of the FMIC is flawed.

I'm actually glad we found an issue as those numbers are not realistic for those upgrades especially on a single pull.

I am always leary of before and after tests that involve messing with the IC piping. Some people have boost leaks that are corrected from simply switching parts and thus get artificially inflated gains during the after test.
